My journey
through the first three weeks of print has been very intense. I have
gained a great amount of skill and knowledge in such a small amount of
time, and feel confident to reapply them throughout the course.
I’ve experimented with different media’s, including gouache paints (which i’d never used before). I used the paints to create croquis designs (above) . I really like the contrast of the bold objects against the soft background and the overall placement of the stripe. This was probably my most successful crouquis, that really captured the mood of my colour palette
These are samples of my screen printing. The sample on the left is probably my favourite as it is simple yet bold. I like the use of the bright colours and think they are more successful than the lighter pigments. I also like the fabric used (rosglen), which adds an interesting texture and colour. The sample on the right is less successful as some of the colours did not come through, which makes it look dull. I was a little pushed for time which defiantly shows through this piece as it looks messy and unfinished. To improve I would use the dark purple pigment to make the objects pop and create cohesion across my collection.
